Ever since my early days as an artist when I made art quilts, I have been drawn to grids. Not perfect, symmetrical grids, but those that are asymmetrical, broken, surprising and serendipitous – those that go beyond rigid borders and formulas. My grid series reflects my interest in the perfection of imperfection. A grid becomes exciting for me visually when it successfully balances and manifests both structure and chaos. As a multimedia artist my grids are composed of cyanotypes, photographs, eco prints, painting, tea bag art, mark making, suminagashi and more. They are often stitched together- my roots as a fiber artist running deep!
